and peer review
Manuscripts
should be submitted online via our website using eJManager
(https://www.ejmanager.com/my/cs/). If you encounter any issues during the
online submission process, please do not hesitate to contact: Thomas.Liehr@med.uni-jena.de.
Authors are
advised to ensure that their papers adhere to the scientific and style
guidelines provided below. Please note that ChrSomics follows a
single-blind peer review process. All manuscripts are evaluated for their
scientific content and significance by the Editor-in-Chief and/or the Managing

manuscripts should contain original research that has not been published
elsewhere and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. To avoid
unnecessary delays to publication, authors are requested to comply with the
guidelines below. If these are not followed, your submission will be returned
for additional revision.

The
corresponding author will pay a €100 Article Processing Charge (APC) (excluding

accepted for publication by ChrSomics following peer review. APCs will
only be paid after acceptance has been issued.
In special

ChromoSomics Basics
Open
access
ChrSomics is committed to advancing the
global exchange of information by providing its readers with free access to
research studies via open access (OA). The full text of articles is made
available as a PDF on the ChrSomics website, ready to be read,
downloaded and shared.
Copyright
The
copyright for all articles published in
ChrSomics is retained by the
authors. These articles are published under an open-access Creative Commons
Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0)
(https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). This license permits the use,
distribution and reproduction of articles in any medium, provided the original
work is properly cited.
Digital
archiving
All
articles published in
ChrSomics are archived by the Editor-in-Chief on
independent, secure hard drives to ensure data security in the event of digital
blackouts for emergency backup and data restoration purposes.
Conflicts
of interest
A conflict
of interest (COI) may arise if one has a financial, legal or professional
relationship with organizations or individuals that could influence your
research. Full disclosure is required for authors when submitting research to
ChrSomics.
The Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor may take this information into account
when making editorial decisions, and COIs should be published with the paper.
In addition, all funding sources that supported the work must be acknowledged.
Reviewers
must decline to take over the task of a review if they have a potential COI,
such as having collaborated with the authors recently or working at the same
institution. If a potential COI arises during the review process, the reviewer
must notify the editor immediately.
Editors
with a COI to a submitted manuscript (e.g. if they work at the same institution
as an author) must remove themselves from the editorial process and request
that another editor handle the submission.
Tasks of
editors
All
manuscripts submitted to the
ChrSomics undergo an extensive peer review
process. The manuscripts circulate between the author, the editor/associate
editor, and the reviewers before final publication.
All
manuscripts submitted to the eJManager system are initially quality controlled
by the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor to ensure correct formatting,
referencing and completeness of all files. If all quality criteria are met, the
review process is initiated. Otherwise, the paper may be sent back to the
authors for pre-review revision or rejected immediately.
The review
process involves inviting at least two experts in the field. Based on their
comments, suggestions and overall assessment, the Editor-in-Chief or Associate
Editor will recommend acceptance, minor or major revision, or rejection of the
paper. Accepted papers are processed and published on
https://chromosomics.org/. Revised papers can be resubmitted, after which the
Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor will decide whether to send them for
re-review, accept them, or reject them. Rejected submissions are closed.
The
Editor-in-Chief has the final and decisive authority to make recommendations
regarding submitted manuscripts.
Tasks of
reviewers
ChrSomics uses a single-blind peer review
process, whereby reviewers are aware of the authors' identities, but the
authors are not informed about who has reviewed their manuscripts. In most
cases, submissions are reviewed by at least two independent experts. These
experts assess whether the article is novel, well-written, thorough and worthy
of publication in ChrSomics. If the peer reviewers recommend publication
in their assessment reports, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision and
communicates it to the corresponding author via email.
Article handling
- Shipping: The published articles are available online and can be accessed via the website. They can also be downloaded by authors and other researchers free of charge. As they are digital commodities and, ChrSomics is an online-only journal, articles are not shipped to authors by surface mail.
- Withdrawal:
Articles in press (= they have been accepted for publication or published as
Online First) that include errors or violate the publishing ethics guidelines,
such as multiple submissions, fake claims of authorship, plagiarism or
fraudulent use of data, may be withdrawn from the journal. Withdrawal means
that the article files are removed and replaced with a PDF stating that the
article has been withdrawn from the journal in accordance with ChrSomics
editorial policies.
- When
publishing an article in ChrSomics, the authors have the following
cancellation rights: They can withdraw an article and cancel their intention to
conclude the contract at any time during the article's evaluation (including peer
review). Once an article has been accepted for publication, it cannot be
withdrawn. Any benefits or interests received by the author up to the point of
cancellation must be refunded to ChrSomics.
- When
providing services to the author, ChrSomics has the following
cancellation rights: ChrSomics may reject the article at any time
without specifying a reason, thus cancelling the submission contract. Following
cancellation by ChrSomics, both parties are released from any previous commitments
under these Terms and Conditions. If any service fees have been paid before the
contract is cancelled, the author will be fully refunded.
- If an
author pays more than is invoiced by ChrSomics, any bank or transaction
charges will be deducted from a partial refund of the overpaid amount.
- Once an
article has been accepted for publication or published online, ChrSomics
will not refund authors the charges they have paid as APCs.
