ChromoSomics: A new home for chromosomic-related research

Thomas Liehr, Martina Rinčić.

Abstract
ChromoSomics is a journal dedicated to cytogenetics, molecular cytogenetics and all other cytogenomic approaches that shed light on the chromosome structure. Studies may address chromosomal shape in interphase and metaphase, as well as the various levels of DNA strand folding. In addition to basic research on human, animal and plant chromosomes, the journal also welcomes studies on inherited and acquired chromosomal aberrations in human diseases. Introduced in 2005 by Prof. Uwe Claussen (April 30, 1945 – July 20, 2008), the term and field of chromosomics includes the three-dimensional morphology and plasticity of chromosomes. These factors may influence the functions and lifespans of all living things, species-specific differences in nuclear architecture, and the natural and induced fragility of genomes. Chromosomic studies can provide new insights and concepts in biological and medical research.
